Asbury Park Transportation Improvement Study: The purpose of the Asbury Park Transportation Improvement Study was to develop a new conceptual vision to re-make the James J. Howard Transportation Center in the City of Asbury Park into the “Crossroads of the Community.” In this regard, the Asbury Park Transportation Improvement Study supports current revitalization efforts occurring in Asbury Park by identifying appropriate physical improvements to the transportation center (TC) and three key connecting “gateway” street corridors.
Many of the findings and recommendations in the study are being implemented. The City has obtained a $190,000 "Centers of Place Grant" to fund capital improvements to the transportation center, many of which were identified in the Improvement Study. In addition, the Improvement Study's recommendations are incorporated into both the Springwood Avenue and Main Street Redevelopment plans. |
