Community & Cultural Affairs / CDBG
Launched in 1974, the CDBG program is one of the longest continuously run programs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), awarding grants to entitlement community grantees.

Construction
The Construction Department is responsible for enforcing the regulations of the State Uniform Construction Code which was established by the State of New Jersey to insure that new construction (commercial, industrial and residential) adhere to the minimum standards of workmanship and safety.

Film & Photo Permits
Film permits are required for all commercial filming activity on City-owned property including City beaches, boardwalk, parks and facilities, with exception of reporting on current news and events by the news media.

Finance
The Department of Finance is responsible for the financial administration of the City. Responsibilities include the preparation of the Annual Operating Budget, Annual Debt Statement, Annual Financial Statement, daily cash flow, temporary and permanent financing for General and Utility obligations, payroll processing, general ledger maintenance, purchasing and accounts payable functions. Tax & Sewer Collection, the Tax Assessment process, and Human Resources are also overseen by the Finance Department.

Fire Department
The Asbury Park Fire Department (APFD) provides fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), and basic life support (BLS) to the over 16,000 residents of the City of Asbury Park as well as mutual aid to neighboring jurisdictions.

Health Department
The City of Asbury Park contracts with the Monmouth County Department of Health.

Human Resources
The Human Resources Department is responsible for employee recruitment, payroll and administering all employee programs, including health and retiree benefits.

Parking & Transportation
This department is responsible for the management of all municipal transportation and parking services in the City of Asbury Park, including the Parking Utility, pedestrian facilities and safety, bicycle facilities and safety, traffic control, signage and striping, and coordination between the City and State, County and local agencies and partners related to transportation.

Planning & Redevelopment
The Department of Planning & Redevelopment / Zoning strives to effectively encourage and support appropriate land development and redevelopment within the City of Asbury Park.

The mission of the Asbury Park Police Department is to safeguard the lives and property of the people they serve, to reduce the incidence and fear associated with crime, and to enhance public safety, while working with diverse communities to improve their quality of life.

Asbury Park's Recreation Department provides quality recreation programs for our community, and supports existing programs by recreational agencies within the City, to help youth build confidence and self-esteem, while creating community.

The Asbury Park Senior Center is brought to you by The City of Asbury Park and is partially funded through a grant from the Monmouth County Office On Aging.

The City of Asbury Park is host to hundreds of special events each year including road races, community block parties, fundraisers, festivals, parades, religious events, weddings, sidewalk sales and more.
