Asbury Park TV (APTV), is a two-time Emmy®-award-winning television station dedicated to informing, educating, and entertaining the citizens of Asbury Park. APTV is available within the City on Verizon FiOS channel 30 and Cablevision/Optimum channel 77. APTV programming can also be found streaming on-demand on the APTV YouTube Channel. Creation & Purpose
The Asbury Park Cable Television Advisory Committee was created on December 5, 2012, by a resolution adopted by Asbury Park City Council. The purpose of the APTV Committee is to act as the City’s advocate and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding all matters related to APTV, to oversee day-to-day operations of Asbury Park’s public access television station, and to develop programming that serves the citizens of Asbury Park.
Mission
The mission of APTV is to inform, educate and entertain the citizens of Asbury Park by creating and broadcasting programming, and by providing an outlet to broadcast programs presented by the City of Asbury Park, as well as local business, cultural, educational and non-profit organizations. APTV strives to broadcast content that responds to the interests and concerns of the community, and to create programming that highlights local issues and matters relating to Asbury Park, in three major areas of focus:
- Public: Input from Asbury Park’s businesses, cultural institutions, and non-profit organizations is sought to broaden reach and develop programs that enrich and enlighten viewers.
- Education: In addition to APTV’s own unique educational programs, APTV strives to work closely with the Asbury Park Board of Education to further their educational goals through regular broadcasts including coverage of Board of Education meetings.
- Government: APTV’s goal is to keep the public informed of events, programs, issues and important developments in municipal government, including regular coverage of City Council meetings.
