A Message from the Fire Chief
I have been a proud member of the Asbury Park Fire Department for over 28 years, and I still feel as excited and lucky to be a part of this team as I did on my very first day. As you might imagine, over the years, I have witnessed many changes in the community, and subsequently to this organization, but the one thing that has remained constant-the APFD's unwavering dedication and commitment to serving our community.
As Fire Chief, I have the privilege to work alongside some of the most talented individuals in our field. I've witnessed our firefighters perform countless heroic deeds, and acts of kindness, without expectation. "I was just doing my job" is something I hear often, and it makes me proud each and every time.
Our mission, "We, the Asbury Park Fire Department, exist to serve and protect the Community through emergency management," provides the foundation as we go about our daily responsibilities of providing 24/7 rapid response to all types of emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
And, our Department's motto, "Your Safety. Our Commitment," is something we take very seriously. The goal is always education and prevention. We value the Fire Prevention and Safety Education programs we have created for our youth, beginning in kindergarten and continuing through to high school. And, we provide an important service to our community with business inspections and community safety programs, helping keep Asbury Park a safe place in which to live and work.
Our promise to the community of Asbury Park - to strive to maintain a high level of service; to be prepared to respond to your needs day or night; and to always serve with professionalism, compassion, and respect.
Sincerely,
D. Kevin Keddy, Fire Chief
