Res 2022 Urging Congress to Include Funding for Affordable Housing in Federal "Build Back Better&

The Mayor & City Council of the City of Asbury Park fully support Senate Joint Resolution No.70 that was introduced on March 3,2022 by Senator Nellie Pou and Senator Vin Gopal. 

The City of Asbury Park will introduce a Resolution of Support of SJR No.70 at the Council Meeting of April 13, 20222.  

The City is hoping for support our entire States Congressional delegation and Senators Booker and Menendez, we are calling on the following federal-level investments in the budget reconciliation process:

  • $25 billion expansion in rental assistance to serve 300,000 additional households; 
  • $65 billion to repair public housing, which is home to 2.5 million residents; 
  • $15 billion in the national Housing Trust Fund to build and preserve 150,000 homes affordable to people with the greatest needs.
