2020 Asbury Park Beach Season Extended Through September 30, 2020

2020 Asbury Park Beach Season Extended Through September 30, 2020
8th Avenue Dog Beach Hours to Remain 6pm to 8:30am until October 1, 2020

9/10/20, Asbury Park, NJ – As previously announced, City Council voted at last night’s Council meeting to extend the 2020 Beach Season through Wednesday, September 30, 2020. All current Covid-19 safety measures will still apply including required social distancing, and required face coverings/masks when on boardwalk, when entering and exiting the beach on beach entry ramps, and when using restroom facilities.

“Due to the circumstances, we are anticipating continued high demand for our beaches after Labor Day,” said Mayor John Moor, “Our number one goal during the current pandemic continues to be safety which requires us to limit capacity at the beaches to continue the hard work of keeping our residents and visitors safe.”

Beaches will be open and staffed Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and on weekends/holidays from 9am to 6pm, weather permitting. Beach badges will be required to access the beach 7-days-a week during beach hours through Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Current Season Beach Badges will be valid through September 30, 2020. Daily passes will continue to be sold each day through the Viply mobile app. For details, visit

Swimming areas will be limited and may change daily based on weather conditions and staff availability. Please only swim in areas marked for swimming when lifeguards are present.

All restrooms will be available through the end of the beach season.

Beach locker rentals will be extended from the original deadline of 9/8/20 to Wednesday, 9/30/20. Please be sure to remove all locks and contents by end of day Monday 10/5/20. After this point, we cannot guarantee the location of, or access to, lockers before they are sealed for the winter.

Since the 2020 Beach Season will be extended, the current hours for the 8th Avenue Dog Beach of 6pm to 830am will be extended through September 30, 2020. Additionally, dogs will not be permitted on the Boardwalk through September 30, 2020. Starting October 1, 2020, dogs will be allowed on 8th Avenue dog beach at all hours as well as on the Boardwalk.
